JAMB directs candidates to re-upload O’level results in 2025/2026 season

JAMB Mandates 2025/2026 Candidates to Re-upload O’level Results for Admission Processing

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a crucial directive for all candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session. Effective immediately, all Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) candidates are required to re-upload their O’level results onto the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) portal.

The announcement, which is already sending ripples through the student community, was made to ensure a seamless and transparent admission process. According to the board, this measure is necessary to synchronize and verify the results uploaded by candidates with the data provided by the various examination bodies, including the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the National Examinations Council (NECO), and the National Board for Technical Education (NABTEB).

A senior official from JAMB explained that the directive aims to eliminate discrepancies and combat fraud, which have historically plagued the admission system. “The integrity of our admission process is paramount. By requiring a fresh upload of results directly to the CAPS portal, we ensure that every institution has access to authentic and verified information, thereby levelling the playing field for all applicants,” the official stated.

This directive is particularly critical for two categories of candidates: those who used “Awaiting Results” during their initial registration and those who may have made errors during their initial upload. Candidates who registered with awaiting results must now upload their complete O’level grades to be considered for admission. Failure to do so will result in their applications being incomplete, and they will automatically be disqualified from the admission exercise, regardless of their UTME score.

JAMB has emphasized that the re-uploading process cannot be done by candidates on their personal computers or mobile devices. It must be completed at an accredited JAMB Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre or any JAMB-approved registration centre nationwide. This regulation is in place to ensure that the uploads are done correctly and securely, preventing unauthorized access or manipulation of candidate data. Candidates are advised to visit their nearest accredited centre with a clear copy of their O’level result slip to complete the process.

As institutions prepare to commence their admission screening exercises, JAMB has urged all 2025/2026 candidates to comply with this directive promptly. The board warned that no institution would be able to process the admission of any candidate whose O’level results are not properly uploaded on the JAMB CAPS portal. This makes the re-upload a mandatory step for securing admission in the upcoming academic year.
