This was released today,29th of September following the Senate meeting held today.
The university’s Acting Registrar, Mr. Ambrose Odiase, officially communicated this decision in a special release dated Friday, 29th September 2023.
The directive underscores the university’s commitment to the timely progression of the academic calendar despite ongoing demonstrations from the former Student Union Government leadership. According to the special release, the university is scheduled to reopen for the continuation of lectures on Tuesday, 3rd October 2023, while students are expected to return back to their hall of residence on Sunday 1st October, 2023.
This decision comes after careful consideration by the university management, emphasizing their dedication to ensuring minimal disruption to the academic schedule.
You will recall that, the university Senate on Monday 4th September, 2023 after its emergency meeting suspended academic activities indefinitely following demonstrations by students over increment of school fee for retuning students which led to the closure of the university gate.
Students are therefore urged to take note of the resumption date and prepare accordingly, while the management welcomes all students back to campus and wishes them success in their academic pursuits.
