JAMB Sets Key Deadlines for 2025/2026 Admissions Cycle.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the schedule of deadlines for the 2025/2026 admissions process, urging all stakeholders, especially candidates, to take note of the critical dates to avoid disqualification. The announcement underscores the board’s commitment to a structured and timely admissions calendar for all tertiary institutions in the country.
According to the timeline, the sale of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) application forms is scheduled to run from October 2025 to January 2026. Aspiring candidates are advised to complete their registration within this window, as the board has reiterated that there will be no extension. The UTME examinations are slated to hold in March 2026, giving candidates a clear timeframe to prepare for the computer-based test.
Following the release of UTME results, the next critical phase will be the change of course and institution. This window allows candidates to make necessary adjustments to their initial choices based on their performance and institutional cut-off marks. This exercise is expected to be open for a limited period, typically concluding before institutions begin their post-UTME screenings.
One of the most crucial deadlines highlighted by JAMB is for the upload of O’level results on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). As previously directed, all candidates, particularly those who used “Awaiting Results” during registration, must upload their results to be considered for admission. This must be completed before the admission process for their chosen institution commences.
JAMB has mandated that all admission exercises for the 2025/2026 academic session must be concluded by October 2026. This includes the first and second choice admissions for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. All recommendations for admission must be uploaded to the CAPS portal by the institutions and accepted or rejected by the candidates before this final date. Any admission processed outside of the CAPS system or after the stipulated deadline will be considered null and void.
Candidates are strongly advised to regularly monitor their CAPS portal for updates on their admission status and to promptly accept any offer of admission. Failure to accept an offer within the given timeframe could lead to its forfeiture. The board emphasizes that adherence to these deadlines is mandatory for a successful admission outcome.
