In alignment with its commitment to inclusivity, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has decided to exclude diagrams, illustrations, and maps from test items for the 2024 UTME, specifically for candidates with disabilities.
Prof. Isahaq Oloyede, the Registrar, conveyed this decision during a virtual meeting with the nation’s Commissioners of Education in Abuja.
Emphasizing equal difficulty indices, he assured that questions for blind candidates would be devoid of visual elements.
The Registrar also addressed concerns regarding the broader spectrum of disabilities, ensuring special provisions to prevent any disadvantage in the registration and conduct of the UTME.
This initiative aligns with resolutions from the recently concluded National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria, organized by JAMB.
