Olajire Sheriff WON N1.5 MILLION BATNF-UNILORIN AGRIPRENEUR GRANT
The competition took place at the faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, yesterday, Wednesday, 24th of June, 2024. The programme had in attendance, the DVC academics University of Ilorin, DVC Research technology and innovation, University librarian, the University Registrar, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, All HoDs in the faculty of Agriculture and Representatives of BATNF.
The British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF) was established as an independent charity by British American Tobacco Nigeria in November 2002, with a start-up grant of US$1 million.
The Foundation promotes sustainable agriculture and rural development in Nigeria. In providing this support, the Foundation is focused on enhancing the livelihood of smallholder farmers, who form the bulk of the rural poor, in a way that is technically, economically, and environmentally sustainable.
This competitive program provides grants to four graduates annually, with the overarching goal of preparing future generations to address the challenges of feeding a growing population, nurturing unique young talents, promoting interest in sustainable agriculture, and fostering the establishment of agricultural enterprises among young graduates.
Olajire Sheriff Adekunle, was among the 25 contestants of the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF) 2024 University of Ilorin Agripreneur Grant.
Olajire Sherrif made it to the final stage and came out shine among the 8 contestants that made it to the final state of the competition. The foundation awarded the four winners with 1.5 million naira each.
