The University of Ilorin got a big award from a top Nigerian newspaper called New Telegraph. They called it the *NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY OF CHOICE FOR THE YEAR 2023.* This award came because the university has been the most popular for the last ten years, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The award will be officially given on February 2, 2023, in Lagos at an event called *NEW TELEGRAPH 2023 AWARDS CEREMONY*.
The newspaper’s boss, Mr Aminu Ayodele, explained that the university earned this award because it’s well-known globally. Four faculties and 11 courses from the University of Ilorin are among the best in the world, according to the Times Higher Education. Also, four teachers from the university are in the top 2% of scientists in Nigeria, making them famous researchers worldwide.
The university got recognized for other cool things too. Professor Dupe Ademola-Popoola did something big by treating eye cancer in Nigeria. Also, 10 law graduates from the university got the best grades at the 2023 Bar Final Exams of the Nigerian Law School. The best student in the whole Nigerian Law School, Mary Omotayo Dada, is from the University of Ilorin.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, is happy about the award. He thanked the New Telegraph for noticing how the University of Ilorin helps the country and develops people. He believes this award will push everyone at the university to keep doing great things.
Prof. Egbewole also thanked all the staff and students for supporting the university. He promised that under his leadership, the University of Ilorin will keep making everyone proud by being the best it can be.
