ZI-NURAIN of Unilorin Emerges as National Director of Sport and Social Duties for All Nigerian University Students – Promises Positive transformation and community development
Comr. Nurain Mudashir Akanji, popularly known as ZI-NURAIN, emerged victorious as the National Director of Sport and Social Duties of the National Association of University Students (NAUS) during the elective convention held on September 28, 2024, at the Women Development Centre in Abuja. The event saw students and delegates from universities across Nigeria coming together to elect new leaders and set a course for the future.
In his acceptance speech, ZI-NURAIN extended heartfelt appreciation to the NAUS stakeholders, national stakeholders, and Kwara State stakeholders for their unwavering support and guidance throughout his journey. He also acknowledged the significant contributions of the University of Ilorin management, the Student Affairs Unit, and the Student Union Council. He specifically thanked Dr. Alex Akanmu, Dean of Student Affairs, for his fatherly support, as well as Comrade Teejay from Kwara State, Mr. Kiloshele, Hussein Nusroh, his mother, siblings, and his entire coursemates, for standing by him through every step.
He expressed his gratitude to Comrade Sunday Asefon, the SSA to the President of Nigeria on Student Engagement, and Comrade Wasiu Salami Onidugbé, the SA on Student Matters to the Kwara State Governor, for their invaluable support and leadership in advancing student interests.
ZI-NURAIN also congratulated all the other elected officials, specifically mentioning the newly elected NAUS President and Senate President. He highlighted the importance of collaboration and expressed his excitement to work alongside them to serve Nigerian university students effectively.
“This victory belongs to all of us,” ZI-NURAIN declared. “Your energy and enthusiasm were the foundation of this success. I assure you that I will work tirelessly to fulfill the promises I made. Together, we will create a thriving sports culture, foster social development, and strengthen unity across our campuses.”
He further inspired the audience with his vision of an inclusive student community where leadership and teamwork ignite greatness. He emphasized that his role is not just about sports and social duties but also about empowering students, driving community development, and contributing to a better Nigeria.
“Together, we will not only aim for greatness but achieve it. This is an opportunity to build a stronger, more united student body,” he urged, encouraging everyone to join hands in building a better university community and a brighter Nigeria.
ZI-NURAIN concluded his speech with prayers for everyone who played a role in his journey, pledging to dedicate himself to the collective growth and development of Nigerian students. “God bless the University of Ilorin. God bless NAUS. God bless Nigeria,” he declared.
