JAMB ANNOUNCES 2024 AGE-BENCHMARK(DETAILS)

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a significant change in its admission policy. As of this year, candidates must be a minimum of 16 years old to be eligible for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This new rule will apply to all subsequent years.

This change aims to ensure that students are academically and emotionally prepared for the rigors of tertiary education. JAMB believes that this minimum age requirement will help to Improve the quality of students entering tertiary institutions, also to reduce the incidence of underage students and helps to enhance the overall learning experience.

Candidates who are 16 years old would be considered for admissions into tertiary institutions for the 2024 academic year, however, the entry age would be 18 years as from next academic year.

This new policy takes effect immediately, and all stakeholders are advised to take note. JAMB will continue to work towards ensuring that the admission process is fair, transparent, and in the best interest of Nigerian students.”
