Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo and Epe Campuses, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its Sandwich Degree Programmes within the Faculty of Education. Available programs include:
B.Sc (Ed), B.A. (Ed), and B.Ed Sandwich Degree Programmes (4 or 5 Years):
– B.Sc Education: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science Education, Educational Technology, Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education, Health Education, Physical & Health Education, Business Education, and Educational Management.
– B.Sc Education: Economics, Political Science, and Geography.
– B.A. Education: History, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Religious Studies, French, English, Yoruba, and Arabic.
– B.Ed. Education: Early Childhood and Primary Education, Guidance and Counseling Education, and Special Education.
General Basic Requirements:
1. Five (5) O’level credits relevant to the chosen course of study, at not more than two (2) sittings, and two (2) of the subjects at ‘A’ level or NCE Merit Pass in relevant areas.
2. A University/Polytechnic two (2) year Diploma Certificate in the relevant area obtained at not less than Merit Level.
3. Credits in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory for all courses.
Specific Subject Area Requirements:
1. English Major: Credits in Literature in English and English Language at O’level or its equivalent.
2. Economics Major: Credits in English Language, Mathematics, and Economics.
3. Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education, Political Science Major: At least a credit in English Language, Mathematics, and Government at O’level or its equivalent.
4. Health Education: Credits in English Language and Mathematics. Holders of Staff Registered Nurse and Midwifery Certificates, Environmental Health Diploma from School of Health Technology plus five (5) O’level credits to include English Language and Mathematics are also eligible.
5. Mathematics and Science Major: Credits in Mathematics and English Language.
Additional Notes:
– ICAN (Part II) or CTS (Part II) are acceptable for Economics.
– Holders of certificates issued by recognized Arabic institutions who may not have written Arabic at SSCE/GCE O’level will be considered for admission, subject to fulfilling other entry requirements. NCE (Arabic) at Merit level is also acceptable.
– LASU accepts any other Arts/Social Sciences subject in lieu of Yoruba Language.
– Diplomas in Health Education, Environmental Health, Physical Education, Social Work, Health Administration, Coaching, or an Advanced Diploma in Sports from the Nigerian Institute for Sports with at least a Merit grade plus five (5) O’level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, are acceptable for Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education.
Course Duration:
– Four (4) Year Degree Programme: For candidates with NCE/ND Merit/Upper Credit grade and above.
– Five (5) Year Degree Programme: For candidates with WASC/SSCE and NCE who do not meet the entry qualifications for the four (4) year programme.
Method of Application:
Application forms are available on the Lagos State University website (www.lasu.edu.ng) for N10,000.00 only. Candidates must submit a copy of their online application forms and appropriate O’level scratch card(s) to the Directorate of Sandwich Degree Programme on each campus.
