UNIBEN RELEASES 2023/2024 ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has officially released the academic calendar for the 2023/2024 academic session.

This detailed schedule includes important dates and events for both the first and second semesters, ensuring that students and staff are well-informed about the academic year ahead.

 

 

FIRST SEMESTER: KEY DATES AND EVENTS 

 

MONDAY, 18th MARCH, 2024:

The registration process for new students begins, marking the start of the 2023/2024 academic session.

 

SUNDAY, 28th APRIL, 2024:

All students, both new and returning, are expected to move into the Halls of Residence.

 

MONDAY, 29th APRIL, 2024:

Lectures commence, and there will be a continuation of online registration and physical clearance for new students.

 

FRIDAY, 17th MAY, 2024: Matriculation ceremony takes place, formally welcoming new students into the university.

 

TUESDAY, 21st MAY, 2024: Orientation programme for new students is scheduled to help them acclimatise to university life.

 

MONDAY, 29th JULY – FRIDAY, 2nd AUGUST, 2024:

A week dedicated to revision, allowing students to prepare for upcoming examinations.

 

MONDAY, 5th AUGUST, 2024:

Examinations commence for the Faculties of Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Physical Sciences, and the School of Basic Medical Sciences.

 

SATURDAY, 10th AUGUST, 2024:

CED (Centre for Entrepreneurship Development) examinations take place.

 

MONDAY, 12th AUGUST, 2024:

Examinations start for other Faculties, Schools, and Institutes.

 

FRIDAY, 16th to SATURDAY, 17th August, 2024: 

GST (General Studies) examinations are held, and students begin their end-of-semester break.

 

SECOND SEMESTER: IMPORTANT EVENTS AND TIMELINES

 

SUNDAY, 1st SEPTEMBER, 2024:

All students return to the Halls of Residence to kick off the second semester.

 

MONDAY, 2nd SEPTEMBER, 2024: Lectures for the second semester begin.

 

MONDAY, 25th to FRIDAY, 29th NOVEMBER, 2024: Revision week to prepare students for the upcoming exams.

 

TUESDAY, 3rd DECEMBER, 2024:

Examinations start for the Faculties of Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Physical Sciences, and the School of Basic Medical Sciences.

 

SATURDAY, 7th DECEMBER, 2024: CED examinations are scheduled.
